A Visit From Dresden: 01099 Live in Hamburg

Do you get deja vu, Hamburg? Having performed there at the beginning of last year already, on Thursday, December 18th 2025, Paul, Zachi and Gustav from the band 01099 came back to the Sporthalle with their "Extra aus Dresden angereist"-Tour. Something became apparent quickly once entering the venue: the crowd was ready to party!

It started with aaron, who was picked as the pre-act for the first half of 01099’s tour to hype up the crowd. And the job was certainly well done. Concluding his own solo tour in November, he showed off his performing skills like a real pro. With hits like "meinen die uns" (do they mean us), "dudenkstsoschön" (you think so beautifully) and "loslassen" (letting go), paired with cheerful screams and dancing from the crowd, for a moment it almost seemed like a headlining show by aaron himself.

The mindset of wanting to party was kept alive even during the intermission between aaron and 01099, when the crowd delivered a beautiful rendition of "Call Me Maybe" as the song blasted through the speakers while the crew set up the stage design. The stage could be described as a meadow captured in a box, combined with a huge screen for moody backdrops.

It was then time for the main event: Paul, Zachi and Gustav from 01099, which by the way stands for the postal code of Dresden Neustadt, where the boys are from.

Opening their set with a throwback and one of their biggest songs, "Frisch" (fresh), the crowd went crazy the moment the curtain fell. It got hot, and flames appeared all across the stage. During "Tanzalarm" (dance alert), Paul delivered the first solo moment of the night with a beautiful saxophone outro.

Something the crowd proved that night is that Germans can party if they want to. Or maybe it is just a Hamburg thing, as the band stated how the city is always a highlight on tour. Surprisingly, the first moshpit of the night happened much later than one might expect. During "Flasche kreist" (bottle goes around), about halfway through the show, the circle opened for the first time and was joined by none other than Zachi from 01099 himself.

Although not for a moshpit, all three members made their way into the middle of the crowd during "Pistazieneis" (pistachio ice cream), "so heiß" (so hot), "Jacke Zu" (zipped up jacket) and "Was ich in die Lieder steck" (What I put into the songs) for an extra intimate moment with their audience. However, the self-acclaimed highlight for the band was another moment: the surprise song section, or as I would call it, "surprise song o’clock". To pick the song, two fans were brought on stage to press a huge red button that revealed the surprise song for the Hamburg show.

"Weihnachtslied 2021" (Christmas song 2021) was the winner of the night and is part of a wholesome tradition the band established in 2020. Since then, a Christmas song has been released every year, including this year with "Weihnachtslied 2025" (Christmas song 2025), which was performed toward the end of the show.

For some fans that night, Christmas came early as it was raining gifts during "Nachtschicht" (night shift) when the boys from 01099 threw some shirts into the audience so that some fans were left with a nice souvenir to take home.

Recently, the band, as well as some of their peers like Ski Aggu and Zartmann, have been in the headlines after their separation from former label Bamboo Records became public. In talks with "Spiegel," former employees spoke up against the CEO of Bamboo Records, Leander Kirschner. The allegations include mental abuse, boundary crossing and physical pressure due to excessive workload caused by the CEO.

Following this, 01099 cut all ties with Bamboo Records and announced the creation of their own company, Nullzehn99 GmbH, which will now be responsible for both label and management.

However, all of that seemed irrelevant that night. The focus was not only on music, but on something else as well: the feeling of belonging and unity. Wholesome moments like a fan holding a handbag high above the crowd while trying to find its owner perfectly captured this spirit. The curtain fell after the grand finale "2000er" (2000s), not only signaling that it was time to leave, but also serving as a reminder of the message of the night: "01099 ist die Family" (01099 is the family) one more time.

After the Hamburg show, there are only two shows left this year, one in Hannover and one in Berlin, before the band and crew get a well-deserved break. After that, they will head out for the second part of the tour across Germany, Switzerland and Austria in March. Check out the tour dates and get tickets here.
