Singing, Screaming & Throwing Money: Ruel Live in Berlin

As part of his Kicking My Feet & Screaming UK + EU Tour, Ruel came to Germany for two shows in Cologne and Berlin on October 21, 2026. The occasion for the tour was his latest album, which also gave the tour its name. In Berlin, the concert took place at Hole 44 in Neukölln, right in the middle of one of Berlin's most vibrant and alternative neighborhoods.

Sadie Jean, who opened the show, mastered her performance with elegance. It almost felt like she was headlining her own show that day. Even before the headliner took the stage, she had the crowd buzzing, and many seemed to know her already. One fan even brought her flowers, which she immediately passed on to her bandmate, who was celebrating his birthday that day. Later, she also performed her duet "Another You" with the British-Australian headliner, giving the audience a little extra treat.

Ruel took to the stage like a true pop star, dressed all in black with a glittery top. The night kicked off with "Only Ever". One special thing about the show, which surely put some of the fans in attendance into fight-or-flight mode, was that the setlist changes every night.

In the intimate setting of Hole 44, where no audience member went unnoticed, this worked particularly well for one fan. When one of them excitedly shouted that he should please sing "SOMEONE ELSE’S PROBLEM", it took very little convincing before the singer gave in. In return, the fans surprised him during "Hate Myself". As Ruel began singing the closing lines, "Where'd all my money, where'd all my money go-o", fans threw handmade money onto the stage, which did not seem to surprise the singer much. His biggest fans seem to have a way of pulling him into these moments. This perfectly describes the target audience of the show. It felt as though everyone attending had been a Ruel fan for a long time. Whether it was newer songs like "Painkiller" or older ones like "Faking Smiles", the crowd sang along at the top of their lungs. A show for the real fans!
