The Last Dinner Party: Indie Rock’s most decadent night arrives in Berlin
Berlin’s UFO at the Velodrom was sold out on Sunday night, February 22nd, and you could feel the excitement before it even started. Sunday (1994) opened the evening and slowly pulled everyone in with their dreamy, melancholic indie sound. By the last song, the early curiosity had turned into warm applause.
When The Last Dinner Party came on, the whole atmosphere shifted. Dressed in their wonderful outfits, it felt like more than just a gig - it felt like something special. A lot of the set came from their new album From The Pyre and live the songs felt both huge and very personal. Abigail Morris' singing completely owned the stage, going from soft and intimate to full power in seconds.
The visuals were beautiful too. Dark, candlelit projections and lighting that made everything feel almost unreal. Older favourites like Nothing Matters had the whole crowd dancing and the newer songs hit just as hard, maybe even more live.
Berlin gave all that energy right back. By the end, it didn’t just feel like a concert, but like one of those nights you know you’ll be thinking about for a long time.
