Alex Spencer in Hamburg — Proving Why He Is an Up-And-Coming Artist

On Thursday, September 3rd, the Manchester-based singer Alex Spencer played a show at the Nochtspeicher in Hamburg as part of his "These Will Be The Days" tour. Arriving at the venue, you could already see a line before doors officially opened, with excited fans waiting for the show.

Once entry started at 18:30, the venue filled up pretty quickly. Which was beautiful, as Hanna Rautzenberg, the opening act of the night, went on stage with a sea full of people in front already there to support her.

Then it was time for Alex Spencer, with him on stage Will (drums), Elodie (bass), Harrison (keys) and Matthew (guitar). "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)" by ABBA starts pounding through the speakers, signalling to fans the show is about to start. Then "Where Do We Go From Here?" starts and Alex runs on stage.

Right from the get-go, fans passionately sing along to his songs, a theme that runs throughout the whole show. Whenever Alex animated them to put their hands up, they did.

His band and him performed songs like "Love And Let Go", "Bucket List", "All of This Will Be Gone" and an unreleased song called "Chameleon" (which he had already introduced at his Cologne meet & greet and at the show the days before).

Following the song "One Way Ticket", he did a backflip on stage and fans were stunned! During "Masks", the whole room was filled with phone lights on and people holding up hearts saying "WE LOVE YOU."

Then, they all left the stage and went on again after a short moment as it was time for the encore. Starting with "Nightmares" and then onto "These Will Be The Days", which marked the last song of the evening and end of his set. Fans were handed set lists, earlier during the night one fan got thrown a bucket hat (part of his merch) and another got handed one of his vinyls!

Alex quickly went off stage and after a few minutes he was already at the merch stand meeting fans, taking photos with them and signing things. Next to him the support Hanna, selling her merch and talking to people who came up to her. There were people who already knew her before the evening, but we're very happy to have noticed that she gained new fans!

At only 19, Alex managed to keep his stage presence throughout the night and showed us why he is an up-and-coming artist. We could not recommend more to go see it for yourself. You can do so in Warsaw on September 9th, as support of the band Only The Poets later this month and in November, in October he will perform at the Neighbourhood Festival in Manchester and join The Reytons.
