Two Colors, One City: Berlin

Pauline Tom
Captured by Pauline, Tom

Two Colors, One City is a photographic series that focuses on capturing a certain color in a space. Tom and Pauline each explore a city through a single predefined color that appears in every image.

Tom focused on the color blue, while Pauline focused on red. In this edition we captured our colors in Berlin. Tom was shooting on film and Pauline digital.

The colors function as a lens or filter through which everything is viewed, guiding selection, framing and movement through the space. By applying identical rules to different perspectives, the series examines how visual attention and the personal view of a photographer shape representations of the same environment.

I’ve loved photography since I was a kid and (live) music has always been such an important part of my life, getting to combine both of those things is a dream come true. I also love urban and street photography, especially while traveling. Any of my friends can tell tales about having to wait for me while i take pictures wherever we go haha. So: if you’re ever looking for me, chances are you’ll find me and my camera at a concert or out somewhere traveling (or at a concert while traveling).

Hello there. My name's Tom and you're about to see some of my photos. I like doing street photography mainly, so I can capture life as it is naturally. I try searching for moments that may otherwise be missed. I like to take photos in different countries and cities to try and find what makes them unique and capture a sense of what they’re like. I’m also just obsessed with composition and could shoot pretty much anything if I can find a frame for it. Hopefully that comes across in the photos, thank you for the interest! :)
