Oben Ohne 2026 - Sun, Happiness & Great Acts
Among the rainy July days, the sun came through just in time for the festival. Like every year, when its doors opened on the Königsplatz in Munich, people were already scattered across the grass and stages during lunch time!
Our first act of the day was Grace Nelly on the Second Stage. Due to the heat, most people were sitting in the shadows, but she for sure had an audience; a few more did go to the barricade as her set continued!
Then it was time for Yung Pepp, which was the first act we saw on the Mainstage. At only 17, he pulled a huge crowd! Two songs in during "LAUT SEIN (IMMER)", there was already a moshpit in the crowd! For the song "Kopfkino", he had Vilo on the piano as a surprise guest. He also sang the unreleased song "29 Grad". For the last song, "Wassereis", he went into the crowd!
Bac was the next act we caught! Right before he came on stage, it was announced that it was getting full, which we can only confirm. First song in, and a sea of people already had their hands in the air! Fans had a great time. He also animated the crowd to go down and then jump up!
For benno!, who's said to become more and more known in the next years, the area in front of the stage was so full, it was temporarily closed for entry. With him rapping on stage, hundreds of people were vibing along to his songs; to one fan, it meant so much that they even cried. He made sure to mention how important it is to look out for each other and to keep each other and oneself safe! Before his song "LOVE U ANYWAY", Benno! talked about this one having kick-started a lot for him; thanks to it, his career started taking a different path.
Nura visibly cared for her fans. She made sure to ask if everyone was safe multiple times and even brought fans on stage. The first time, it was so they could help her with water pistols and aim them at the crowd; the second time, fans sang along with her into the mic during "Bongzimmer". Both her fans and she, which is also noticeable in her songs, care strongly against fascism and racism. Generally, Nura speaks out against injustice. She also condemned police brutality; she noted that both Oury Jalloh and Lorenz A. were killed due to it, as well as domestic violence, the German extreme right-wing party AFD, and the current German chancellor, Friedrich Merz. The crowd led a chant against the AFD: "Ganz München hasst die AFD" (All of Munich hates the AFD). For the song "Fotzen im Club", she animated only mosh pits for Flinta, with them on people's shoulders instead of men.
The last act we saw, which also closed the festival, was Souly. He was very energetic on stage; fans were on his shoulders, singing their lungs out. Souly was very grateful to be be on stage, he thanked the crowd multiple times, "Dankeschön München, sehr froh hier zu sein" (Thank you Munich, really happy to be here) and "Ihr wart ein wunderbares Publikum München, ich schwör. Ich liebe euch München" (You were a wonderful crowd Munich, I swear. I love you Munich). His set started when the sun was still up, then beautifully went into the sunset.
For both his set and Nura's, the area in front of the stage remained closed. Taking a look at the Second Stage, the same happened during Baran Kok's set; due to overcrowding, they had to stop entry there, too.
Happily, we noticed prompters with lyrics in front of both stages and sign language interpreters, who stood both on and off stage and used the prompters to do their jobs properly.

Throughout 2022 and the beginning of 2023 I started to photograph with my phone at shows I went to, in April of 2023 I got to photograph with my camera at a show for the first time and have been doing it since. I love that it´s possible to combine (live) music and photography!
Excited to see what the future will bring!
