Osheaga: A “Montreal Summer” Staple
The Canadian music festival Osheaga is back this summer for its 19th edition, marking nearly two decades of musical discoveries and summer soundtracks.
Taking place from July 31st to August 2nd at Parc Jean-Drapeau, this year’s lineup promises a powerful blend of 2010s nostalgia and a new wave of chart-climbing artists. Notably, Canadian headliner Tate McRae is making her Osheaga debut following a sold-out show at the local venue Centre Bell during her Miss Possessive tour. Alongside her, fellow headliners include returning stars Twenty One Pilots and Lorde, who previously performed at the festival in 2015 and 2017, respectively.
As always, the festival shines a spotlight on local talent, surpassing itself this year with 26 Canadian artists, 14 of whom are from the host province of Quebec, such as Wolf Parade, Billie du Page, and Virginie B.
Festivalgoers can expect a wide diversity of musical genres, ranging from folk to electronic music, guaranteeing everyone an amazing time, no matter their preferences. At its core, Osheaga thrives on pop and indie energy, striking the perfect balance between chart-topping anthems and underground discoveries. The lineup is stacked with must-see acts, including Sombr, Empire of the Sun, Subtronics, Zara Larsson, Paris Paloma, Wet Leg, Malcolm Todd, Wolf Alice, Mother Mother, and many more.
Partnering each year with Montreal’s STM public transit system, the festival is easily accessible by metro and simple to navigate for visitors. On the site, attendees can also enjoy a wide variety of local food vendors and engage in sponsor activations, keeping the energy high all weekend long.
Osheaga is not just a festival but a cultural experience that merges music, fashion, and a sense of community, bringing people together for the weekend. The festival is coming up soon, so if you haven’t secured your tickets yet, single-day and 3-day passes are still available.
