Not only did the newcomer Jaschu release his debut EP, "Vielleicht", on Friday, April 4, 2025, but he also celebrated the launch with a release concert in Hamburg. To top it off, the event was followed by a “Wilde Herzen” party, which helped explain the crowd—mainly young people, all dressed to impress and ready to dance, as well as the late start of the show at 10 p.m.

While waiting in line, I struck up a conversation with two girls who were right in front of us. They shared that they’d been to a “Wilde Herzen” party before and that it had been…”okay”. But with Jaschu headlining the night, they decided to return for his performance.

Even though Jaschu had posted the setlist before the show, allowing fans to prepare, the evening was still full of surprises. The first surprise—well, maybe not so much a surprise since it was announced beforehand—was that the first 100 people received a goodie bag, which included a tote bag (you can never have too many tote bags, right?) and a poster.

Jaschu took the stage at 11:30 p.m., but he wasn’t alone! To everyone’s surprise, he kicked off his set with Heller, another German newcomer, and their collaboration “Wir waren frei.” The song, about falling in love with someone—or more specifically, how madly in love Jaschu was with his former best friend—set the tone. After encouraging the crowd to confess their love to their crush, the show was officially kicked off.

Next up was “Schwerelos,” which Jaschu describes as the first “Jaschu-typical” song. He told the crowd how this was the first time he had the courage to fully express his creative vision, not worrying about what others might think. The young artist continued by performing his new EP in chronological order, starting with “Unbequem,” one of the two new, unheard tracks.

Fan favorite “4 Uhr” came next, and the people around me couldn’t help but remark that it was his “best song.” The crowd erupted, singing along and dancing. It was definitely one of the standout moments of the night, especially as the energy continued with the next song, “Schnee von morgen,” another fan favorite.

After “Nachtbus,” there was just one song left on the setlist—“Vielleicht,” the title track of his new EP. After finishing it, the crowd cheered for more. Jaschu let the audience decide the encore, and as the cheers for “4 Uhr” outshone those for “Schnee von morgen,” the final song of the night was set.

What really stood out to me that evening was Jaschu's gratitude towards his team. He made sure to recognize everyone who helped bring the show to life, asking the crowd to cheer for them multiple times.

He also kept the audience entertained with personal anecdotes and humor. He jokingly told the crowd to give a thumbs down if the guitar was too loud, and explained that he wasn’t wearing his usual cap because he’d just gotten a new haircut. This sense of camaraderie made the concert feel like a casual hangout with an old friend—one of the reasons why I think Jaschu is so likable. Through both his music and his words, he connects with his audience in a way that feels incredibly relatable. Despite being sick (which, according to him, was one of his worst nightmares come true), he didn't show it, and the performance didn’t suffer at all.

Overall, it was a short but very sweet concert that offered fans an inside look at the themes of Vielleicht, while also being the first to experience the EP performed live. However, one thing that stood out—though not everyone in the crowd—was the handful of people who had full-blown conversations during the performance. I suspect many came for the afterparty rather than for Jaschu's music—perhaps tagging along with friends who were fans or just there for the buzz. It's a shame, as it showed a lack of respect for both the artist and the fans. After all, this might have been one of the last chances to see him in such an intimate setting, and that deserves more attention.

If you haven’t seen Jaschu live yet, you should definitely do it whenever you get the chance to. Although there’s no tour planned, there are still plenty of opportunities to catch him live, including at the Norden Festival. I highly recommend checking out both his performance and his debut EP, "Vielleicht".
