CONCERT

Superbloom Festival Munich

Ever since its creation in 2022, the organizers of Superbloom seemed to have an easy time getting big names to perform in the city of Beer and Brezeln. The lineup for the 2022 edition featured a wild mix of popstars like David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Jason Derulo, Years & Years, Rita Ora, and Stromae next to rappers such as Skepta, Megan Thee Stallion and Saint Jhn and German fan favorites AnnenMayKantereit, BHZ, Schmyt and 01099. These trends from 2022s booking carried over into 2023, with Imagine Dragons, Martin Garrix, and Ava Max filling the slots for pop, Kontra K, Aitch, and Ski Aggu holding down the Hip Hop side of things while Peter Fox, Trettmann and Jeremias would make sure German artists would not go underrepresented. While both iterations were generally well-liked, some visitors would complain about poor organization and high prices.

Behind the Barricades: Experiencing the Heroes Festival Freiburg Like a Fan, Not Like a Journalist.

01099, Trettmann, Shirin David and more... I was a little late for a review pass for the Heroes Festival this year, but anyone who knows me knows how obsessed I am with this small German indie band called 01099. So, when I heard that the Heroes Festival was returning to Freiburg for the third time in as many years, with 01099 as one of the headliners, I knew exactly where I'd be: Right behind the barricade.

A while back, our Interviewer Mäx, met the German band BitterBlau for an Interview in their hometown, Heidelberg, Germany. The location of this month's Coffeeshop Interview was Simons & Beans. BitterBlau has a psychedelic-/dream-pop sound with many synthesizers and groovy guitar beats. The band's music is fresh, youthful, and full of character, with great lyrics that underline what music is generally about: feelings.

On July 7th, 2024, Hozier played the largest show of his career at London Finsbury Park. After a very rainy and muddy start, the English weather came through and brought us a sunny evening to enjoy Hozier’s Concert. Before his show started, three amazing artists were supporting him. (...) The whole night, the fans could see that Hozier was enjoying his biggest live show to date. He was jamming his songs with big smiles and sometimes seemed very touched to play his biggest crowd to date. He sang his classics like “Like Real People Do “ or “Take Me to Church.” the whole park screamed the lyrics to the fan-titled liberation-Hymne, and LGBTQ+ flags were held up high and proud! As a surprise song, he brought the beautiful Brittney Howard back to the stage and sang a cover of “Feeling Alright” by Joe Cocker - we loved it!(...)
