How Kilu Leaves His Mark With His EP "PRINT"

Ever since discovering how they knew this past year, I have been patiently waiting for Kilu to release more of his new era of music.

Kilu is a London-based singer-songwriter and producer who has already hinted at his understanding of building a track with a certain emotional depth, restraint, and amazing instrumental notes. Taking inspiration from Radiohead, Bon Iver, Coldplay, and Montell Fish, something that makes Kilu such an interesting artist is, in my opinion, the unique atmosphere he always manages to create. Therefore, I was incredibly excited to finally listen to Kilu’s new era with his EP PRINT, released on March 20th, 2026.

epic

With a long instrumental intro, you are immediately plunged into the atmosphere he carries throughout the EP. Truly epic instrumentals are paired with his breathy, vulnerable voice. With a mix of simple production elements, such as guitar and soft drums, "epic" alternates between softer and more intense tones, setting the tone for this EP.

i don’t wanna die today

"i don’t wanna die today" carries an emotional weight with its title, making it quite direct. However, Kilu doesn’t abandon his unique sound. While the title suggests urgency, the track unfolds slowly, in a controlled way. From the beginning, the production seems sparse, almost as if it is holding on. The tension is only from repetition and subtle shifts, such as in lyrics like

We’re all fantômes
Walking to get out
Never feel lost
Just like atoms

Its certain stillness mirrors the emotional state the song inhabits. With its beginning and end in the same, restraint sound feels like the song is holding on, a very specific moment. It captures the sense of someone who isn't necessarily okay but chooses to stay.

marry me to dopamine

It’s only once in a while
Marry me to dopamine
I’m scared to run away

Starting with electric guitars and soft drums, the song immediately captures your attention. The entire production seems to lean into a hypnotic, sort of repetitive structure. Kind of like dopamine, a cycle and craving, never fully resolving. It still has a sort of lightness to it, especially compared to the previous track on the EP.

It’s only once in a while
It’s only once in a while
That I have it all
I have you

This certain repetition at the end, followed up with the restrained outro, soft guitars and Kilu softly singing "somewhere else" marks a stark contrast to the guitars and drums at the beginning. The entire framework of this song is beautifully done, and it's one of my favorites on this EP!

outer body

With a beautiful piano arrangement at the beginning, which could be the backdrop of a movie scene, Kilu’s vulnerable voice joins the production. The piano carries through the entire song, with only minimal other effects. It’s a very stripped-down approach, with his voice gradually becoming quieter while the instruments remain the same. The entire song has a floating sense to it.

push

"push" immediately takes a completely different direction from where “outer body” lies. While the other body is of a rather quiet nature, Push starts off with a rocky guitar intro. It quickly managed to become one of my favorites of this EP. It has a lighter, more energetic feel; the lyrics remain typically Kilu style, carrying the distinctive emotional depth.

how did they know

In my hidden gem’s playlist – released at the end of last year – I’ve already mentioned my love for this song. I can only repeat myself by saying, this song continues to be one of my favorites. From his vocals to musical arrangements to lyrics, it is just so incredibly beautifully done.

Something about your love
Feels
Like I’m on the edge of the earth
The unknown

verden

"verden" is for me the perfect ending to this EP. It stands apart from the other tracks while still fitting seamlessly into the overall vibe of PRINT. Starting off with layered vocals and a stripped-back arrangement, the song builds from an acoustic to a more electronic sound. It also carries a slightly dystopian atmosphere, which I really love!

 Final Thoughts

I have to admit, I had high expectations for this EP as I truly adore Kilu’s music and I’m so happy that my expectations were more than fulfilled. Personally, I can’t really name a favorite from the EP, as I love all tracks. Each one brings something entirely unique while still fitting seamlessly together. With PRINT, Kilu crafted something truly unique with his EP and I’m truly excited to see where his new era will take him!
