Album Review: Ellice – Ellice im Wunderland

Written by Daria on July 10, 2025

Berlin-based singer Ellice makes an impressive entrance into the pop world with her debut album "Ellice im Wunderland", released on July 4, 2025. Known from her breakout appearance on The Voice Kids and her viral single ANGST > LIEBE, the young artist now offers a full-length project that boldly captures the emotional highs and lows of Gen Z life and love.

The ten-track album is a vibrant blend of deep, bass-driven pop, emotional ballads, and subtle nods to indie and Y2K-inspired aesthetics. Ellice effortlessly balances introspection with self-confidence, inviting listeners into her version of “Wonderland” - a personal, emotional space where heartbreak, identity, and modern romance unfold. From the opening title track “Im Wunderland,” Ellice sets the tone for the journey ahead. The song is a dreamy, melodic piece where she imagines escaping to a fantasy world with someone she admires. It’s followed by standout tracks like “(not your) remedy” and “Genz Love,” both showcasing her signature low-end pop sound, pulsing rhythms, and smart, emotionally charged lyrics. “Goodbye Eyes” offers a touching ballad about the pain of letting go, while “Motten” uses the metaphor of moths to explore hidden emotional struggles. The album also features a notable collaboration on “Lovesongs” with Hamburg rapper Tom Hengst, blending mellow R&B vibes with a cool, detached tone that complements Ellice’s vocal presence.

Musically, the album is polished yet personal. Comparisons to Billie Eilish feel natural - not just because of Ellice’s vocal timbre, but because of her ability to articulate vulnerability with quiet power. At just 18, Ellice already demonstrates impressive artistic maturity. Her sound is modern but not trend-chasing, emotional but never melodramatic. With "Ellice im Wunderland", she positions herself as a vital new voice in the German music scene - honest, bold, and full of potential.

The release show on July 7th in Berlin provided the perfect atmospheric backdrop for the album. Set in a carefully curated space that visually echoed elements of her Wonderland, Ellice brought the emotional depth and sonic richness of her songs to life on stage. Surrounded by ethereal lighting, intimate moments, and captivating energy, it became clear: Ellice is not only a powerful presence in the studio but also a remarkable live performer who moves and inspires her audience.
