On the first day of Szene Openair Festival, THE UNSEEN got the chance to sit down for a very quick interview with Austrian indie-rock band lovehead. The trio has been making a name for themselves with songs like "denkst du an mich?" or their quirky song "erdnussallergie", which have earned them a growing fanbase thanks to their catchy sound and playful lyrics.

I have a few quick questions for you guys … The first question is: Can you tell me very briefly who you are and where you met?

Anna: I'm Anna.

Leni: I'm Leni.

Mara: And I'm Mara—and we're Lovehead!

Anna: Mara and I met on Instagram, and Leni and I met at a party—they went to school together, and then things just kind of worked out that way.

Lea: Cute.

Would you describe your music as “atzig,” “fotzig,” or “mausig?”*

(long pause)

Anna: I think it’s probably a bit of everything, right?

Leni: I’d say it’s more of a mix of “fotzig” and “mausig,” somehow.

Mara: Sometimes we’re “atzig.” Well …

Anna: Maybe even today!

Lea: Love it! Alright …

You’re releasing a new EP in September. What color do you most associate with it?

Anna: Uh, we already have a few in mind!

Leni: Well, there’s this kind of purple, but more like … How can you describe that purple?

Anna: Lilac?

Leni: Yeah, lilac — definitely lilac.

Mara: Totally — and kind of dark blue, too.

Anna: And a little bit of light pink.

Leni: Yeah!

You’re all still relatively young, and you have a lot ahead of you. Do you have a specific idea of what your future will look like as a band? Or are you just taking it as it comes?

Leni: We’ll see, I’d say.

Anna: On the main stage!

(all laugh.)

Anna: Just on the main stage!

(laughs.)

Mara: We’re on the main stage! No, I think we’re excited about whatever comes our way.

(all nod.)

Mara: And we’ll just see what happens.

Anna: We’ll take everything that’s cool with us. And even if it’s not cool, we’ll take that with us as well. We’re just having fun!

"Erdbeereis in der Dusche" [Strawberry ice cream in the shower] or "Sex am See" [Sex by the lake]?

(pauses. laughs.)

Leni: Yeah, sex by the lake.

Anna: Yeah, nice.

In your song "denkst du an mich", you sing about vodka mixed with cherry juice, among other things … Do you have any other cool drink ideas for us?

Leni: Well, "Fanta Lustig" [White wine & Fanta], of course. Definitely! Personally, I’m also a big fan of red wine. There are some really good ones, especially from Burgenland, Austria, where we’re from.

(Anna nods.)

Mara: Yeah, I don’t really like to drink, so … I can’t think of anything right now.

Anna: Lately, I’ve really been enjoying Lillet Wildberry. And Aperol.

Leni: Classic!

And what else do you guys like to do besides music?

(pauses.)

Mara: I don’t really have that many hobbies, actually. I’ve been studying a lot lately. But other than that, there really isn’t much time for anything else, actually.

Anna: Well, we’ve recently started reading together. We started a mini book club a week ago. And we’re always swapping books. I think this is going to be a new, intense hobby. And other than that, I think we’re all pretty different!

Lea: Okay, cool, well, that’s it then! Thanks so much for the interview!
